Despite the nation's economic difficulties, William & Mary Law School's alumni and friends supported the school in record-breaking numbers during the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2011.

Donations to the Law School's Annual Fund totaled $1,553,017 - the largest figure in the Law School's history.  The previous high mark was $1,382,052 in 2010.

Total giving to the Law School (including annual fund, endowment, building fund, and in-kind gifts) came to $3,340,067 - also the largest in the Law School's history.  The Law School's previous high mark was $3,028,336 in 2007.  Of particular note was an endowment gift of more than $900,000 by Tim Dunn and Ellen Stofan, both graduates of the College, establishing the H. Stewart Dunn Civil Liberties Project.

The check presentation.William &  Mary Law School continues to enjoy a very strong alumni giving percentage rate.  According to the latest data (from fiscal year 2010), the Law School had the 11th best alumni giving percentage rate of any law school in the United States (there are almost 200 law schools).  "This strong giving rate percentage is suggestive of the satisfaction of our alumni with the education that they received at William &  Mary," said Dean Davison M. Douglas.  "Our alumni and other friends have really stepped up to continue the Law School's upward trajectory.  As our state support continues to shrink, private giving has become ever more important to our success."
