The Undergraduate Business Program at the College of William & Mary climbed two spots to 23 in Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s annual ranking of U.S. programs. The annual ranking measures student satisfaction, postgraduation outcomes, and academic quality.

The William & Mary faculty received another A+ ranking in the category of Teaching Quality and the UBP ranks among the top 20 for Academic Quality (14th). The program is also among the top 10 in the MBA Feeder School rank. This measures which schools send the most grads to the 35 top MBA programs.

“Our Undergraduate Business Program is an amazing learning community that brings together world class faculty with world class students. We are very pleased that in addition to being a top tier program, we are becoming recognized throughout the world as a top tier program,” said Undergraduate Business Program Assistant Dean Bill Geary.

The ranking puts the William & Mary undergraduate program in the top tier of all undergraduate business programs and 8th among programs at public universities.

A hallmark of the undergraduate program is the Individual Program of Study (IPS) where students pursue a variety of different paths, integrating their interests, strengths, and aspirations. Students in the IPS study in more than one area of business often combining study in another field at the College as a double major or minor. An international experience is included in the junior year.

“We have enjoyed a steady climb in the Business Week rankings, and while top 25 in the U.S. and top 10 among public universities is a fine place to be, we are not resting here. Our integrated curriculum and our concept of an Individual Program of Study for each student are just two of the reasons why we anticipate continuing the climb,” Geary added.

“We have great students, dedicated faculty, and innovative program leadership.  Once again, it has proved to be a winning combination,” noted W&M Business School Dean Lawrence B. Pulley.

In early April, the Undergraduate Program will be hosting the National Undergraduate Business Symposium 2011. NUBS is an annual gathering of the top 30 undergraduate business programs in the U.S.  This year’s theme is “Our Opportunity for Impact:  Best Practices in Educating the Next Generation of Business Leaders.”
