On Saturday, Nov. 12, Boy Scouts from Portsmouth, Va., travelled to the Law School for a daylong introduction to law during which they satisfied the requirements for the Law Merit Badge.
Will Gvoth, a first-year law student at William & Mary and an Eagle Scout, was in charge of planning and coordinating the efforts of about a dozen W&M law students who led sessions during the program. Scouts learned about topics such as civil and criminal law, legal careers, and the role of law enforcement. In addition, they took part in a mock trial. Additional speakers included Russ Eley of the Virginia State Police, W&M Chancellor Professor of Law Fredric Lederer, director of the Center for Legal and Court Technology, and Larry Martin, a 1973 graduate of the Law School, of the Commonwealth's Attorneys' Services Council.
Law student presenters included Brian Carrico '14, Mark D'Antonio '14, Alex Horning '13, Jason Howell '12, Scott Jacobsen '14, Grant McLoughlin '14, Travis Roberts '13, Joe Sherman '13, Jarred Taylor '13, Stephen Torok '13, and Bailey Woolfstead '12.
