Jordan's Prince El Hassan to address campus and community audience

His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan, who served as the country’s Crown Prince for more than three decades, will speak at the College of William and Mary Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. in the Sadler Center, Commonwealth Auditorium. His address, “Stability in West Asia: Short-Termism or a Vision for Peace,” is free and open to the public. Seating will be limited.HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal

Prince El Hassan, brother of His late Majesty King Hussein, is an advocate of dialogue between the Muslim world and the West on issues ranging from humanitarianism, religion and multilateralism to the need for a culture of peace, open dialogue and the importance in recognizing knowledge and innovation.

His Royal Highness chairs or serves a number of international committees and organizations. These positions include founding member and president of the Foundation for Interreligious and Intercultural Research and Dialogue; member, Board of Directors of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) (since 2002) and member, International Board of the Council on Foreign Relations. In 2008 he received the Abraham Geiger Award for Peace.

Prince El Hassan is the author of seven books including In Memory of Faisal I: The Iraqi Question (in Arabic), 2003 and Continuity, Innovation and Change: Selected Essays, 2001.
