Class of 2009 BBC America recently caught up with four members of William & Mary's Class of 2009 to see how they have fared in the job market during this tough economy.
BBC America recently caught up with four members of William & Mary's Class of 2009 to see how they have fared in the job market during this tough economy.
The production crew first interviewed the four graduates during William & Mary's 2009 commencement weekend. At that time, two of the graduates had jobs lined up -- Lauren Jones, a biology major and business management minor, and Amber Roberts, a double major of history and public policy. The other two graduates - Rob Cottrell, a business finance and economics double major, and Mike Goudey, an international relations major - were still searching and waiting to hear back on possible job offers.
Seven months later, the BBC crew found the graduates spread across the country. Jones is still working with PBM Products, a leading infant-formula company in Gordonsville, Va. Roberts received a fellowship with the Congressional Hunger Center and was placed in Portland, Ore. Cottrell, who at the time of graduation was waiting for word on a possible job in Chile, took a position with ING in Cleveland. Goudey, who took a sailing trip with Cottrell over the summer, coached a high school sailing team and then moved to Colorado to coordinate vacations for ski resorts.
