Standout William and Mary freshman
Emily Stites won the U.S.A. Cross Country Junior National Championship on
February 2nd.
It was the first national title for
the Tribe's women's track and field team since 1982.
The national title was yet another milestone in what has been a stellar
start to Stites' collegiate career. She
has already earned NCAA All-America honors in cross-country and was named as
the CAA's Rookie of the Year.
Recently, TribeAthleticsTV caught
up with Stites and Steve Walsh, the Tribe's Director of Track and Field and
Cross Country, to talk about her accomplishments and goals moving forward.
She'll next try for All-American honors at the NCAA indoor championships at the
beginning of March, before representing Team USA at the world cross country
championships in Poland at the end of March.
