Banks is Kerry and Linda Killinger Professor of Diversity Studies and director of the Center for Multicultural Education at the University of Washington, Seattle. Professor Banks, a specialist in social studies education and widely regarded as a founder of multicultural education, has written more than 100 articles and written or edited 20 books in these fields. His research on how educational institutions can improve race and ethnic relations has greatly influenced schools, colleges, and universities throughout the United States and the world.
This lecture is supported through an endowment established by the late Robert Stanley Hornsby '41, J.D. '49 and Mrs. Lois Saunier Hornsby with the purpose of enriching a sense of unity for those engaged in the wonders of teaching and learning.
