Students interested in music have formed a number of organizations and performing groups on campus. For a complete current listing and contact information, please consult the directory of student organizations.

 

The A Capella Council

The purpose of this organization is to foster good relations between all the a capella groups on campus.

 

Accidentals

A women's cappella vocal ensemble that performs a wide range of music for both campus and non-campus sponsored events. This group holds auditions in the fall and spring. More.

 

Botetourt Chamber Singers

Provides an outlet for the highest quality of musicianship in the form of a select chamber ensemble. More.

 

Christopher Wren Singers

A 14-member student-directed, student-run chamber and madrigal choir that performs both on campus and in the community. Membership is open by audition to all interested members of the College community. More.

 

Cleftomaniacs

A coed a capella group that will sing rock as a base, but can sing any song and genre they wish.

 

The Collective

A multidisciplinary performance organization combining elements of film, dance, musical performance, puppetry, and other forms of artistic expression. More.

 

Common Ground

A women's contemporary Christian a capella group which sings on and off campus. More.

 

Composer's League

Composers on campus have an opportunity to discuss their compositions as a group and perform their compositions for the College and Williamsburg communities. The League also aims to sponsor qualified composers in contests and to attend conferences and festivals; invite composers to campus to give lectures and master classes; and increase the musical awareness and enthusiasm among students on campus. In 2005, the League was awarded a prestigious mtvU grant from MTV. More.

 

Covenant Players

A shared activity of the Catholic Student Association and the Canterbury Association who offers one or two Broadway and inspirational plays each year and raises money for charitable organizations chosen by the Covenant Players Board. Open to people of all religious backgrounds. More.

 

Delta Omicron

The international professional fraternity in the field of music, founded in 1909. More.

 

Doubletake

A co-ed jazz a capella ensemble. With concerts throughout the year, Doubletake brings a different style of music to campus. More.

 

Ebony Expressions

An organization whose purpose is to provide ministry through contemporary gospel music to the campus and community.

 

Gentlemen of the College

The oldest all-male a cappella group on campus, founded in 1990, they typically have 10-15 members performing on campus and across the nation. Intonations

William and Mary's first all-female a cappella group.  The Intonations were created as the sister group to the Stairwells and perform a variety of contemporary music both on campus and within the community.  Visit their website for more information: http://www.wm.edu/so/intonations.

 

 

Nu Kappa Epsilon

NKE ("en-key") is the professional music sorority at William and Mary, dedicated to promoting the growth and development of musical activities at the College as well as in the Williamsburg community. It was founded in 1994.

 

One Accord

A men's Christian a capella group whose goal is to give glory to God through song. More.

 

Passing Notes

An organization to promote appreciation for a wide variety of a capella music of the pop genre and provide an a capella option for women interested in singing this music. More.

 

Phi Mu Alpha

The campus music honor fraternity.

 

Pointe Blank

A jazz and tap dance group focusing on performing.

 

Reveille

A small, informal women's a cappella group which is available for serenades, concerts, hall programs, etc. and sings a wide variety of music. More.

 

Sacred Music Society

Fosters an appreciation for the sacred choral works of the baroque and classical tradition through performances of such works.

 

Shakespeare in the Dark

Dedicated to bringing Shakespeare in all forms to the campus.

 

Sinfonicron Light Opera Company

An organization that provides an alternative performance style to the one offered by the Theatre department. Students are given an opportunity to be involved in every aspect of doing a show, including directing, producing, and designing.

 

Spotlight

The purpose of this group is to entertain with song and dance by preparing one public showcase per semester. It includes a variety of musical genres from contemporary pop to traditional show tunes.

 

Stairwells

A small men's a capella cross harmony singing group composed of eight to twelve men. Auditions are held in the spring and fall, and they perform throughout the year for birthdays, clues, and touring, along with hosting groups from other universities. The music is varied, ranging from doo-wop to the kings singers. More.

 

Syndicate

The purpose of this group is to spread awareness and encourage interest in a variety of elements of contemporary urban music and dance. More.

 

W&M Pep Band

This band plays at all home football and basketball games. More.
