1. Download the RussianXP.zip file to your Desktop.
  2. Double-click on the RussianXP.zip file to open WinZip.
  3. Extract all of the files and folders in the RussianXP.zip file to your Desktop.
  4. On the Desktop, you should now see a folder called RussianXP. Open the folder and double-click on the Layout02.msi file to install the keyboard.
  5. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options.
  6. Select the Languages tab in this window and then select Details.
  7. From the Settings tab, select Add
  8. From the Add Input Language window, select Russian from the Input Language pulldown menu and Russian (translit) from the Keyboard Layout pulldown menu.
  9. Click OK to return to the Input Languages window, and then select Preferences.
  10. Select Language Bar under the Preferences heading in this window and make sure the "Show Language Bar on Desktop" button is checked.
  11. Keep clicking OK until all windows are closed.
  12. That's it. You should now see a little blue button like this somewhere on the taskbar on the bottom right of your desktop. Clicking on it will give you a list of all character sets installed. Selecting (Russian) while using an application like MS Word or Internet Explorer will allow you to type in Russian.
