Mac OS X Transliterated US Keyboard for Russian

Before you do anything, first check to see if the phonetic keyboard is already installed. If you don't have the following menu options on your system already, see below for further instructions:

  • Go to System Preferences > International > Input Menu.
  • Check the "Russian Phonetic" box
  • Make sure the "Show Input Menu in Menu Bar" option at the bottom of the Input Menu window is selected.
  • You should now see a little American flag appear toward the top-right of the desktop.
  • Click on the American flag and select the new Russian Transliterated keyboard instead.
