Handling Junk Mail

If you're being inundated with Junk Mail, you can set up a mail filter to block most of the offensive spam. Here's how:

  • First, log on to Webmail.
  • In Webmail, you'll see a navigation menu on the left-hand side of the screen. Select the OPTIONS button.
  • Now select the Junk Mail Control link at the top of the OPTIONS page.
  • You'll now see the Junk Mail settings page. Click on the link for Junk Mail Filter.
  • Now you're ready to edit the Junk Mail Filter. Under "Select a Filter Condition" click the "Normal" button.
  • Under "Select a Filter Option" click the "Move to Junk Mail folder" button.
  • Click "OK" and your filter is now set.

IMPORTANT: You must occasionally go to your Junk Mail Folder to review your Junk Mail so you can check to make sure important mail isn't being erroneously sent to the Junk Mail folder. I suggest you do this once a week. Here's what you need to do:

  • First, go to Webmail and log in.
  • Next, click on the Folders link on the left-hand side of the screen. This will bring up a list of your folders in the center of the screen.
  • Now, click on the Junk Mail folder link. This will bring up the Junk Mail folder. Browse through this list to see if there are any valid messages you'd like to keep.
  • If not, click on "Select All" at the top of your Junk Mail list. You should see checkmarks appear next to all these junk messages.
  • Now click on the "MARK DELETED" button to the immediate right of the "Select All" link to mark these messages as deleted. You should see little red marks appear next to each message.
  • Now, click on the "Expunge" button on the menu at the left, and these messages will be purged from your system.

What if I find a message in my Junk Mail I want to keep?

If you find that your mail filter is filtering out too much mail, you can set up a white list to save mail from friendly addresses. Setting up your White List...
