Visualizing the Anguished Mind: Dostoyevsky on Film
In April 2005, Dr. Paletz gave a lecture which focused on the various ways filmmakers have interpreted Dostoevsky's works. In this clip, Dr. Paletz suggests that, had Dostoevsky been writing today, his peculiar writing style and themes might have been suited to writing horror or mystery films. Here he discusses that when directors present Dostoevsky's texts on film, ordinary objects tend to become "objects of terror."
