Summer 2008 Apprenticeships at the Embassy of Spain
The Embassy of Spain in Washington, DC will accept up to two William & Mary rising juniors and seniors as interns for eight weeks in the summer of 2008, from late May to late July. They will work under the direct supervision of Sr. Jorge Sobredo, the Consejero Cultural, and in collaboration with his staff.
Applicants must demonstrate superior command of Spanish; knowledge of a broad range of cultural and artistic expressions including literature, film, theater, music and art; a professional demeanor; an ability to work well with others; and commitment to the full range of cultural diversity represented by Spanish culture.
Thanks to generous support from the Charles Center, the internships carry a $3000 stipend.
Applications should include a one-page personal statement of personal background and interest, a current academic transcript and a current résumé. Non-Hispanic Studies major should also supply two letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes with the application or directly to Prof. Greenia; at least one letter must address language proficiency. Selection will be made by faculty in Hispanic Studies in consultation with the office of the Consejero Cultural of the Embassy of Spain.
