Meet the Student Teaching Assistants in German Studies for Fall 2007

  Kasey Hutson is a senior German Studies major and an American Studies minor, and is one of the TAs for German 101.  She started German as a sophomore, and participated in the Münster Programm during the 2006 World Cup.  Her host family invited her back this past summer, when she completed an internship at the Landesmuseum.  In her free time, she also works at the Daily Grind and is on UCAB's Contemporary Culture committee.  Kasey can be reached at krhuts@wm.edu.
 

Carolyn Osinski is a senior German studies major. She began learning German in her freshman year at W&M. She has since studied abroad twice in Germany: the Muenster Summer Program in 2006 and a semester in Freiburg in the spring of 2007. She is also a resident of the German Haus and encourages everyone to come out to their events! In her free time, Carolyn is a competitive ballroom dancer and enjoys spending time with her Phi Mu sorority sisters. Carolyn can be reached at cmosin@wm.edu

 
   

Daniel Layton is a senior German studies major and biology minor. He began learning German as a freshman at the University of St Andrews in Scotland before transferring to the college. He spent his junior year at the University of Münster studying German literature and botany. While abroad, Daniel also gave private English lessons to graduate students. He hopes to continue his studies with a master's program in conservation botany at a German university. Outside of the classroom he enjoys films, gardening and all forms of natural history. Faith App is a German and Biology double major. She enjoys co-leading a Bible study this semester through her church, CLC and going to REmix. She also loves the outdoors and being active so you can often find her running, biking, climbing at the Rec Center.  This past summer she studied in Muenster and had a blast traveling in Germany and assimilating into German culture. fcappx@wm.edu

 

John Palenski is a sophomore at the College and plans to major in German Studies.  He spent the past summer (2007) studying in Münster, Germany and plans to study abroad during his junior year. Besides German, John plays the double bass in the William & Mary Symphony Orchestra and also enjoys playing soccer and lacrosse. John teaches the 8:30am German 101 Drill and can be reached at jwpale@wm.edu

  Sarah Düttmann is this year’s German House Tutor. She enjoys living in the House and sharing her knowledge about Germany. Whenever you have a question about Germany or studying abroad or you simply want to test your language skills join her at the Kaffeeklatsch on Fridays or come to one of the weekly conversation hours.
