Millington
Hall

This Japanese Red Maple
(Acer palmatum ornatum) used to be adjacent to Millington Hall.
This and other specimens in the area have been transplanted recently
due to the addition to Swem Library.
|
|
| Presently,
the lot next to Millington is under construction because of the
expanding Swem Library. The construction is due
to be completed in 2001.

A beautiful Weeping Japanese Cherry
(Prunus subhirtella pendula) drapes over a picnic table that was donated
through the
Living Remembrance
program.

Millington Hall is the home of William and Mary's Biology Department.
The building sports botany laboratories, a 4,000 square foot rooftop
greenhouse
(pictured at right),
and a large collection of preserved plants in the
herbarium. |

The Weeping Cherry pictured above lies next
to Millington Hall on the north side. Walking around the west side of the
building leads to a Corky
Sweet Gum (Liquidambar styraciflua) and a large Leyland Cypress
(Cupressocyparis leylandi). The walkway to the west entrance is lined with
Chinese Holly (Ilex cornuta), and in the lawn there is a Little-Leaf Linden
(Tilia cordata) and a Common Crapemyrtle (Lagerstroemia indica).
