Honor Council

The Honor System at William & Mary Law School exists to provide a living and learning environment that reflects the values of the Law School community, including those of academic integrity, personal integrity, and personal and professional responsibility.

The Law School Honor Council is a student body of sixteen Justices, including a Chief Justice and Vice Chief Justice, comprised of student representatives from the 1L, 2L and 3L classes. Council members are selected through application and interview with officers of the Student Bar Association, the student governing body of the Law School.

Honor Council members are responsible for hearing and deciding Honor violations that are brought to the attention of the Council as provided for in the Honor Code. Honor Council members have a duty to maintain confidentiality in all Honor proceedings and to treat all participants in any Honor proceeding fairly and equitably.

Although it is incumbent upon each individual student to know and abide by the Law School's Honor Code, Honor Council members are also available to provide information to students, faculty and staff about the Law School community's standards of conduct as embodied in the Code, and to provide information about Honor procedures.

William & Mary Public Service Fund, Inc.

Incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1988, the William & Mary Public Service Fund, Inc. (PSF) is a private nonprofit organization governed by students at the William & Mary School of Law. PSF is a full member of the National Association for Public Interest Law, a coalition of similar organizations at law schools throughout the country. PSF endeavors to prepare, inspire, and create opportunities for William & Mary law students to pursue careers in public interest law.

PSF conducts several fund-raisers throughout the year to support its Summer Fellowship Program. Through the program, PSF provides financial assistance to William & Mary law students who work in unpaid summer internships with public interest law organizations.

PSF raises money from fellow law students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alums. Williamsburg-area businesses also provide substantial support. Finally, PSF runs a gift shop at the Law School where you can buy Law School sweatshirts, golf shirts, t-shirts, mugs, hats, and more.

Student volunteers are essential to helping the Board of Directors with all activities. Students who want to volunteer or to learn more should contact a member of the PSF Board when they are here at the law school. Volunteers serve a great cause and have loads of fun!
