Michael P. ChuClass of 1992 · Chicago, ILPartner, Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione
Michael earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During law school he was professional articles editor of the William and Mary Law Review. As an intellectual property attorney, Michael has litigated patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret disputes at the trial and appellate levels throughout the country. He recently completed his term as president of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA), which represents the more than 40,000 Asian Pacific American attorneys practicing in the United States today. Michael now serves as president of the NAPABA Law Foundation, and sits on the board of the Asian American Institute. He also serves on the board of the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago and the Latin School of Chicago. An avid musician and triathlete, he is a founding member of the Esquire Saxophone Quartet, plays alto saxophone with the Chicago Bar Association’s Barristers Big Band, and has completed two Ironman races and ten marathons. Michael recently graduated as a 2006 Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago. I found that William & Mary was large enough to have the resources and support of the big Ivy League schools, but with a relaxed, cordial atmosphere. This kind of environment is so conducive to learning, yet is very hard to find in any law school. I really appreciated knowing and working with my professors. Moreover, students are truly treated as individuals by both the faculty and administration.
