Megan BiskClass of 2006 · Boston, MAAssociate, Ropes & Gray
Meg earned a B.A. in political science with a minor in Spanish summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she volunteered at the Amherst Survival Center, and spent a semester in Seville, Spain, studying Spanish language, culture, and politics. At William & Mary she served as president of the Student Bar Association (SBA), was a staff member of the William and Mary Law Review, and worked as a graduate research assistant for Professor Erin Ryan. She also was involved with the Campus Bone Marrow Drive Committee, which coordinates the largest university-based bone marrow drive in the country. During summer 2004 Meg split her time between The New England Legal Foundation in Boston, researching material for employment law and corporate individual rights cases, and the Office of the Chief Staff Attorney at the Supreme Court of Virginia. During summer 2005 she worked for Ropes & Gray in Boston. Following graduation Meg returned to Ropes & Gray and is currently an associate practicing in the labor and employment department. Once merely a regional powerhouse, William & Mary now enjoys a terrific nationwide reputation. However, because I knew I would probably practice in Boston, I was hesitant at first to leave the area to attend law school. Luckily, I have never regretted my decision and actually feel that attending an out-of-state school gave me an advantage during my job search. Boston firms were excited by the prospect of hiring someone who had a different educational background, and impressed by the extensive legal research and writing experience I had gained through William & Mary's top-notch Legal Skills Program and unique graduate research fellowship experience.
