Heather Ann Forrest

Class of 2001 · Armidale, Australia

Lecturer, Intellectual Property Law, University of New England School of Law
Heather Ann Forrest

Heather graduated from Clemson University with a B.A. in language and international trade. During law school she was a staff member of the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal. After earning her J.D., she studied at the University of London as the Law School’s 2001-02 Drapers’ Scholar and earned an LL.M. in European computer and communications law.

Following the LL.M. program, Heather commenced practice in the London office of the U.S.-based firm Kilpatrick Stockton. Her practice focused on intellectual property, information technology, and general corporate advice to U.S. and European clients in the luxury brand goods, technology, entertainment/media, and food and beverage business sectors. The highlight of her practice was assisting in negotiating and drafting a publishing agreement consolidating the copyright portfolio of a well-known 1970s music group.

In January 2007 Heather left private practice for a faculty position at the law school of the University of New England, Armidale, Australia, where she teaches intellectual property law and alternative dispute resolution. Heather’s articles have been published in European Intellectual Property Review, Duke Law and Technology Review, International Business Lawyer, and World Trademark Law Report.

I had no idea how helpful the Office of Career Services’ interviewing program was until I spoke with law students from other schools who were undertaking job searches on their own. OCS’s structured interview schedule offers a large degree of comfort and predictability during an otherwise challenging time as you begin your legal career.
