Permanent Reserve Collection

The permanent reserve collection includes popular legal reference materials, study aids, guides and classic works. The collection is designed to support the needs of the law school's faculty, students and practicing Virginia attorneys. Featured items include:

  • Virginia CLE Materials
  • W&M Law Faculty Treatises
  • Nutshells, Hornbooks, Casebooks

Items generally circulate for 4 hours and are intended for use within the library.

Multimedia Collection

A developing part of the permanent reserve collection is the multimedia collection. Designed to further support the Law School's educational goals, videotapes, audiotapes, CD-ROMs and software are available for overnight checkout. Featured items include:

  • Eyes on the Prize, PBS series
  • Computer Aided Legal Instruction Disks
  • May It Please the Court audiotape series of U.S. Supreme Court cases

Another special feature of the multimedia collection is the Feature Film Collection, which provides relaxation and entertainment for students between studies. Movies in this collection are available for 2-night checkout with William & Mary identification. Featured movies include:

  • Bowling for Columbine
  • Chicago
  • Daredevil
  • The Life of David Gale
  • Minority Report

Borrowing Privileges

Students, faculty and staff of the college may borrow reserve items by showing their William & Mary ID. Williamsburg residents and Virginia attorneys who have purchased a borrowing card from the library may also charge reserve items. Items may be taken out of the library, but must be returned within the specified time period. Members of the general public who wish to use reserve items may do so for a brief period either at the circulation desk or by leaving some form of identification with the circulation staff.
