As many of you are aware, the excitement of starting law school
is often coupled with a trace of anxiety about what lies ahead.
For 1Ls, the prospect of having a mentor to turn to throughout
the first year is reassuring and highly desirable. As a Senior
Counsel or mentor you will be matched with a student who may
be from your geographic area, has an interest in pursuing the
area of law that you practice, or simply shares your interests
and hobbies. The program can take as much or as little effort
and time as you and your Junior Counsel deem necessary.
Over the last few years we have seen a dramatic increase in the
number of students looking for Senior Counsels who are located
throughout the nation and even internationally. Because the mentoring
experience can take place through telephone calls or email communication,
these long-distance relationships have been very successful.
For those in closer proximity, personal visits are encouraged.
