The Therapeutic Justice Practice Externship will offer students the opportunity to participate in specialized alcohol and drug courts in juvenile and circuit courts of Virginia. Students will be assigned to work under the supervision of a judge, prosecutor, or public defender as they learn about new and innovative alternatives to the traditional approach of the administration of justice. Students should plan one day per week with the supervising judge, prosecutor or public defender.
Students must be available for to work on any one of the following days, depending on their assignment, to fulfill the requirements of the course.
Richmond City Adult Drug Court Wednesday and Fridays from 9:00 am.
Hampton Adult Drug Court Tuesdays from 1:00 pm.
Newport News Adult Drug Court Fridays from 10:00 am.
Henrico Adult Drug Court Fridays from 11:30 am. and Mondays from 1:30 pm.
Chesterfield Adult Drug Court Wednesdays from 7:30 am.
Norfolk Adult Drug Court Thursdays from 1:00 pm.
Hanover Juvenile Drug Court Fridays from 1:00 pm.
Richmond Family Drug Court Fridays from 8:00 am.
Newport News Juvenile Drug Court Wednesdays from 3:00 pm.
Chesterfield Juvenile Drug Court Thursdays from 3:30 pm.
Course limited to 10 students.
