Faculty Development Fund

A small “faculty development fund” to enable faculty to attend conferences or workshops in new, interdisciplinary fields and to provide seed money to embark on projects in new or high-risk areas.

Examples of funded projects have included:

·         Participation in a Cold Spring Harbor workshop for bioinformatics

·         Seed money for a laboratory to implement new molecular techniques into ongoing ecological-evolutionary projects

·         Summer salary to engage in mathematical biology research

·         Residency at the Santa Fe Institute to introduce dynamical systems/network theory into the undergraduate curriculum

The application typically consists of a written proposal (~5 pages) describing

the nature of the project and how this funding will impact undergraduate

    teaching and research.
