Thank You Class of 1959
The Class of 1959's 50th reunion was celebrated May 1-3, 2009, and what a wonderful weekend it was! For those who were able to attend, the opportunity to renew old friendships and learn more about the William & Mary of this new millennium exceeded the class's expectations. The weekend was enjoyed with evenings filled of stories of years gone by and beautiful days highlighted by student interaction, campus tours, and casual get-togethers with old and new friends.
During a luncheon held, the reunion gift committee co-chairs presented President W. Taylor Reveley III with a check on behalf of the Class of 1959 totaling more than $5,444,000 representing gifts and pledges in total college support. Included in this amount were the three special projects chosen by the class raising funds for:
- William and Mary Memorial Garden $226,000
- Class of 1959 Scholarship $79,000
- Alumni House Operating Endowment $17,000
A total of 52 percent of the class made the Class Gift possible -- an outstanding effort!
Congratulations and thank you to all who participated in the reunion festivities and contributed to the Class Gift. The reunion weekend was a reminder of just how important the College is to so many people - and how the Class of 1959 is important to the College!
