Unparalleled Opportunities for Intellectual Investigation

Junior Michelle Munyikwa

Many of William & Mary's unique benefits have enabled junior Michelle Munyikwa to grow. From receiving the prestigious Murray scholarship to designing her own major, Munyikwa has found that these opportunities have allowed her to meet "some amazing people," create connections to faculty members, and take advantage of benefits reserved at most universities for graduate students.

In and out of the classroom, Munyikwa develops her desire to serve. As the current president of Students for Stop Hunger Now, she continually advocates for issues she feels strongly about, including health. An aspiring doctor, Munyikwa's cell biology research with Margaret L. Hamilton Professor Lizabeth Allison has been a highlight of her William & Mary career. The College's cutting-edge curriculum has allowed Munyikwa the freedom to pair an anthropology major with a self-designed major, combining her dual interests in biochemistry and molecular biology. Munyikwa is just one of many students who are well prepared for their careers and lives thanks to the exceptional liberal arts experience William & Mary provides - a hallmark of which is close mentoring relationships and research collaboration between undergraduates and top-notch faculty like Professor Allison. Munyikwa noted, "The College is large enough to have many research programs, but small enough for undergraduates to play major roles."

William & Mary provides the opportunity for students to make an impact and annual gifts make it happen.
