Virginia Institute of Marine Science

The Virginia Institute of Marine Science is the nation’s largest marine science center focused on coastal and estuarine science. VIMS carries out a three-part mission of research, advisory service and education.

VIMS faculty and students lead global efforts to understand the coastal environment and to provide independent scientific information that informs policy solutions for the Commonwealth of Virginia and for the nation. VIMS partners with research institutions throughout the world.
