Commencement 2008

The Commencement Weekend schedule begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 9. Highlights of the weekend include the Baccalaureate Service on May 10 at 9:30 a.m. in William and Mary Hall; the President's Reception for Graduating Students and Families on May 10, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Wren Yard; the Senior Class Candlelight Ceremony on May 10 at 9:30 p.m. in the Wren Yard; and the "Walk Across Campus" with seniors gathering at 10:45 a.m. at the Wren Building.

VIMS Sixth Annual Marine Science Day

May 17, 10:00am - 3:00pm | VIMS Campus, Gloucester Point

Activities center around this year's theme, "Global Change," and include 10-minute "fast talks" exploring changes locally and abroad along with VIMS' polar research; hands-on learning experiences for children; the Paper Parade of Marine Life with participants wearing costumes they created from paper; music; seafood demonstrations; and tours of the VIMS' Teaching Marsh.
Free admission and parking.

A campuswide party celebrating the tenure of Sam Sadler at the College of William and Mary was held on April 18.


Visiting the College of William and Mary as the 2008 Hunter B. Andrews Fellow in American Politics, Sen. John Warner said that he has seen a lot of changes in the U.S. Senate during his five consecutive terms in office. 

The second annual "Moment to Remember" was held on March 18 to honor those who have served in the armed forces.

Members of the Board of Visitors spent an entire day on campus listening to concerns related to the resignation of Gene Nichol as president.
