Williamsburg and Charlottesville are typically mild in the fall, cold to moderate in the winter, warm in spring and HOT in summer, but anything is possible. There are some items we feel you should bring, and some others that are optional.

MUST BRING:

• Umbrella, rain gear, jacket, or coat
• Walking shoes
• Prescriptions for medicines
  

OPTIONAL ITEMS YOU MAY WANT TO BRING:

• Water Bottle
• Swim suit (our hotels have pools)
• Elderhostel passport, if you have one
• Notebook
• 100 Watt light bulb (if you prefer bright light for reading)
• Flashlight
• Insect repellent (during warm weather)
• Sunglasses or hat for shade
