Miss Rumphius Effect: Envisionments for Literacy and Learning That Transform
the Internet by Donald Leu, Deborah Diadium Leu, and Rachel Karchmer.
This
article studies how teachers and students create new envisionments for literacy
and learning using technology. These new visions are then shared with other
classrooms by being made available on the Internet. The article goes on to describe the many ways teachers can exchange ideas using
the Internet including collaborative projects, mailing lists, and central sites
for stories of teachers' journeys.
The journey ahead: Thirteen teachers report how the Internet influences literacy and literacy instruction in their K-12 classrooms by Rachel Karchmer
The purpose
of this study was to explore 13 K-12 teachers' reports of how the Internet influenced
literacy and literacy instruction in their classrooms. Through interviews, reflective
journals, web pages, and lesson plans, teachers reported on the appropriateness
and accuracy of Internet material and publishing student work on the Internet.
