Conducting Business
- Conducting Business: Weekly Business Meetings
- Chairmanship of the Meeting: The council should hold business meetings weekly during the academic year. The Chair should preside at weekly business meetings. If the Chair in unable to preside over the weekly business meeting, the Vice-Chair should preside.
- Meeting Agenda: The Chair should set an agenda for the weekly business meeting. The agenda should include:
- A report from the Chair
- A report from the Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Chief Financial Officer
- Reports from the committee chairs, ad hoc committee chairs, and other individuals in charge of Council initiatives
- Old and new business, including Council logistics and case updates
- Council Administrative Decisions: Council decisions should be chosen through a majority vote, unless otherwise directed in the Honor Code or the Honor Council Bylaws.
- If business decisions must be made when the Council is unable to meet, the Chair is authorized to do so, in consultation with the Vice-Chair and appropriate committee chair.
- Breaches of Security: In the case of a serious breach of honor council office security, the council should:
- Immediately notify Campus Police.
- Notify the Chair of the undergraduate Honor Council, the Dean of Students Office, and the Office of the Vice-President for Student Affairs
- After the Honor Council office has been secured, the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Chief Financial Officer should form an executive committee to assess the nature of the breach and write a notification memo to the College administration detailing the nature of the theft, vandalism, or other violation of confidentiality
- In cooperation with the Dean of Students Office, the Chair will prepare a plan of action to determine and implement a plan to recover the lost or stolen confidential material, notify individuals affected by the breach of security, and establish a new security system in the office.
