Computer Science Department

Research

The Computer Science Department provides a strong research program with faculty actively engaged in research in the following areas: algorithms, computer systems and networking, high performance computing, modeling and simulation, programming languages and compilers, scientific computing, and scientific visualization.

We also offer multidisplinary research opportunities in Computational Science and Computational Operations Research.

Some faculty and students participate in joing research activities with two nearby national research facilities: the NASA Langley Research Center (NASA LaRC) and the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab).
