CAAS Session on Undergraduate Research in Classics: Call for Papers 2008 Annual Meeting, Friday, October 10 - Saturday, October 11 Princeton. NJ |
The Classical Association of the Atlantic States encourages all of the college and university classics faculty within the region (District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania) and beyond to invite their undergraduate students to showcase their research in classical studies at the next annual CAAS meeting: in Princeton, New Jersey on Friday and Saturday, October 10-11.
We were delighted with the success of our panel sessions in 2005 and 2006, featuring presentations by undergraduates at the US Naval Academy, University of Southern California, Duke University, St. Joseph's University, Hamilton College, Gettysburg College, Whitman College, Purdue University and Illinois Wesleyan University. This year's special panel session will again provide our students with the opportunity to share their work and participate in a regional professional meeting.
If you have students working an an advanced project or thesis, a seminar paper, a performance or an independent study initiative that you wish to nominate, please send Judith P. Hallett the following:
- a title and one page abstract (300 words maximum) written by the student summarizing his or her work
- a nominating letter from a faculty member. This letter should briefly describe the context for the student's work—seminar paper, performance etc.—and the quality of the project
Abstracts and nominating letters for this session are due on May 18, 2008. We are planning to schedule the session on Saturday afternoon, October 11. Please let me know if there is any further information that I can provide.
