Roy R. Charles Center
Faculty Reading Groups
Each year the Charles Center provides support and coordination for a book purchase program for faculty reading groups. The goal of this program is to encourage exchange on important new books of general interest to a number of faculty members. While these books may be intended for an academic or scholarly audience, they should be of sufficiently general interest to appeal to faculty from more than one department. Early in the fall term faculty are invited to propose titles for this program. The Charles Center then advertises these titles to the faculty as a whole and purchases books for the individuals who sign up. The book groups, led by the faculty members who initially proposed the titles, then meet two or more times, usually early in the Spring term.
