Departmental Honors: Colloquium

You are invited to take part in William and Mary's Ninth Annual Honors Colloquium. The Colloquium will take place February 11 - 28, 2008 with afternoon sessions in Tucker, James Blair, and Washington Halls. The Colloquium provides honors students with an opportunity to present your ideas to an interdisciplinary audience, allowing you to gain oral presentation practice and feedback on your project at a stage where it can have some influence.

Participation in the Honors Colloquium is completely voluntary.  We will schedule two student presentations in each one-hour block. Each student will give a 20-minute presentation consisting of a concise summation of their thesis accessible to an audience of non-specialists.

Audience members (students' advisors, other faculty, underclassmen in the discipline, and anyone the panel members wish to invite) will have ten minutes to ask questions after each presentation.  I strongly encourage you to invite the members of your examining committee).

to sign up for the Colloquium as soon as possible and no later than 12 noon on Friday, February 1, 2008. Be sure to check the availability of your honors advisor before you sign up!  Students will be asked to confirm their scheduled time by February 4 and the presentation schedule will be posted online on February 5.

Current Information

The Eighth Annual Honors Colloquium will take place 11 - 28, 2008 with late afternoon sessions in James Blair Hall, Tucker Hall, and Washington Hall. Everyone is invited to hear these students present their honors research. There will be two twenty-minute presentations in each one-hour block, and each presentation will be followed by ten minutes of discussion. The schedule of this year's presenters will be posted on February 5 - watch this page for updates.
