Quality Enhancement Plan - Mellon Initiative - Call For Proposals
Over the next two academic years, a grant from The Andrew Mellon Foundation will help us increase the presence of “undergraduate research” in the curriculum; over the next five years, significant internal funding will help us achieve the goal of our Quality Enhancement Plan to increase the quantity and quality of “independent inquiry” experiences in the curriculum. The objectives of these initiatives are sufficiently similar that we have brought them together in a single coordinated effort that will be supervised by the QEP/Mellon Committee (QMC), a faculty committee that has been appointed by Provost Feiss on the advice of the Faculty Assembly.
The QMC encourages proposals that will augment the capacity of departments and programs to teach with research or inquiry. The Committee invites proposals for summer, 2008 and academic year 2008-9 projects that will augment the quantity and/or quality of undergraduate research/inquiry in our curriculum.
NOTE: The Committee has a budget of approximately $200,000 per year for the next three years that it can dedicate to projects.
This is intended to be a flexible funding opportunity that can meet the needs of a wide variety of initiatives. Please contact or if you’d like to discuss how your project might best fit into this funding opportunity.
Application Deadline
The next application deadline will be Friday, May 30, 2008. The Committee will review applications for projects to be undertaken in summer 2008 and/or during the 2008-9 academic year.
