About Randy Tripp
Who am I?
- Hometown: Norfolk, VA
- High School: Indian River High School 1997-1999
Booker T. Washington High School 1999-2001 - Why do I have my hands up in the air with a photo of Coming to America in my pocket?: For those who are familiar with the movie, you know the character Randy Watson from the Jackson Heights neighborhood of Queens, NY. He performs "Greatest Love of All" at the church charity function and at the end drops the mic and exits the stage (which I am attempting to recreate). My colleagues at William and Mary and from colleges across Virginia and North Carolina started calling me Randy Watson and it will never go away.
- Greatest professional challenge: Reminding my colleagues of my real last name
- Greatest professional experience: My colleagues not remembering my real last name
- Greatest W&M experience: Serving as President of the African-American Male Coalition for two years
- Call me a glutton for punishment because: I am a New York Mets fan and a Washington Redskins fan
What do I do?
- Regional responsibilities include:
- Tidewater or Hampton Roads
- Northern Neck
- Southside Virginia
- Shenandoah Valley
- Southwest Virginia
- Home-schooled students and 4-year transfer students
As a 2005 graduate of William and Mary I am happy to say that I am still at my alma mater working in the Office of Undergraduate Admission. William and Mary has done a lot for me with regards to my education, professionally and personally and has definitely become my home away from home. I am soft-spoken for the most part, but I like to think I just do not waste words, so when I do talk it means something. I also work as a member of the Multicultural Recruitment Team, Team Transfer (for our transfer applicants) , assist with the Summer Interview Program, supervise out multicultural interns and serve as the liaison with the Athletics Department overseeing the Athletic Admission Process.
