About Henry Broaddus
Year in which I became dean of admission: 2005
Hometown: Richmond area (grew up in Hanover, Powhatan and Chesterfield)
High school: Midlothian
College: Dartmouth, degree in English Literature and Creative Writing
Proxy experience as a W&M alumnus: One of the two best men in my wedding received his law and business degrees here, and the other attended William & Mary not only for his undergraduate degree, but also for his PhD in Chemistry. One of my wife's two maids of honor was a William & Mary undergraduate too.
Greatest professional privilege: Personally signing offers of admission
Two unexpected things I would accomplish with unlimited power and influence: BCS football playoffs that create the same excitement as our FCS (formerly I-AA) national playoffs, and FDA-enforced standards for what can be listed on a menu as a "club sandwich"
Side arm of choice: MacBook, but I also always carry two Flair pens—one black and one red.
Responsibilities: I manage the undergraduate recruitment and admission processes, and I bear ultimate responsibility for all of our office's efforts, outcomes and personnel. Fortunately, the last of these includes people who make me look good when it comes to the first two.
