Marriage Equality Rally
| April 20, 2009
We believe that we all deserve the freedom to marry. For our CAP project, we held a Marriage Equality Rally where we had a symbolic, mass wedding ceremony where anyone could get married--no gender discrimination. We had three speakers from the community who discussed different issues surrounding same-sex marriage. The purpose of our rally was to raise awareness about same-sex marriage, including about the discrepancies between marriages and civil unions, as well as other issues same sex couples encounter. We advertized through flyers, "marrying" the statues around campus, and hanging a sign over the Crim Dell. The rally was held on April 11th in the Crim Dell Meadow.
