Winter's TalePerformances of the Virginia Shakespeare Festival are held in Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall on the campus of the College of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, Virginia. The street address is 601 Jamestown Road. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm, Sunday matinees at 2pm.

Driving Directions

Follow the links below for driving directions from area locations:

I-64 EAST (from Richmond): Take exit 234 (Route 199 East). Turn left at second stoplight onto Jamestown Road (Rt. 31, landmarks: 7-Eleven on left, and SunTrust Bank on right). Follow Jamestown Road approximately 1.5 miles. You will pass Lake Matoka on your left, and then you will come to a series of William & Mary parking lots. PBK Memorial Hall is at the end of the paved parking lot. There is a semi-circular driveway out front with three flags on flagpoles, and road signs advertising the shows. Large triple glass doors entrance.

I-64 WEST (from Norfolk/Hampton Roads): Take exit 242A (Route 199 West). Turn right at fourth stoplight onto Jamestown Road (Rt. 31, landmarks: 7-Eleven on left, and SunTrust Bank on right). Follow Jamestown Road approximately 1.5 miles. You will pass Lake Matoka on your left, and then you will come to a series of William & Mary parking lots. Route 5 from Charles City: Follow Rt. 5 to its end. When you reach Rt. 199 turn right onto 199 and then turn at your first left onto Jamestown Road. Follow directions above to PBK Hall.

Route 143 (Jefferson Ave.) from Newport News: Follow Rt. 143 toward Williamsburg. Take Rt. 199 west (intersection about one-half mile past Country Club and 7-Eleven on right at stoplight) toward Jamestown and Busch Gardens. Follow directions above for Jamestown Road and PBK Hall.

Route 60 (Warwick Blvd.) from Newport News: Follow Rt. 60 towards Williamsburg. Pass Busch Gardens and Anheuser-Busch brewery on your left. Pass Village Shops on your right and the Marketplace on your left. Stay in left-hand lane. Take left-hand exit for Rt. 199 West toward Jamestown. Follow directions above for Jamestown Road and PBK Hall.

Route 60 (Richmond Rd.) from Richmond: Follow Rt. 60 towards Williamsburg. Continue straight on Richmond Road until it ends at Merchant's Square. Take a hairpin right onto Jamestown Road. Follow Jamestown Road for about four blocks. You will pass campus buildings on your right and an open soccer field. PBK Hall is the first building after the small field. There is a semi-circular driveway out front and a large triple glass door entrance.

Regional Travel to Williamsburg, Virginia

By air: The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is 10 miles southeast of Williamsburg, served by Airtran, USAirways and others. Norfolk and Richmond airports, some 50 mile hence, have more flexible service by major airlines. All three airports provide agreeable ground transportation to Williamsburg.

By train: Williamsburg is an Amtrak stop between Richmond and Norfolk, with Eastern service via Philadelphia and Richmond; Southern service is via Atlanta and Richmond.

By bus: Greyhound and Trailways coaches, via Richmond and Norfolk, arrive several times daily.

By car: If driving, you will likely arrive via I-64, from Richmond to Norfolk. Check this page for exits and details. Note that I-95 traffic from Washington, D.C. to Richmond is often heavy, and I-64 from Norfolk to Richmond may be gridlocked at prime-traffic hours. Consider various alternative routes.
