As a transfer student from community college, I definitely experienced culture shock. The caliber of work expected and the interactions with professors were so radically different.
The staff in Academic Advising gave me realistic expectations, so the culture shock wasn't so jarring. They helped me plan out my curriculum step by step. We even arranged a backup plan in case my original plan didn't work out the way I wanted. They also helped me realize that I could reach my full potential at William and Mary if I tried and put my utmost effort into my classes. With their help, I gained a sense of security and validity to my academic path and choices.
