The Office of First Year Experience will help guide your transition into the William & Mary community. You will receive a link to the Tribe Guide well before orientation. The information, exercises, and checklists in the Guide will lead you through everything you need to know before your arrival on campus.
Advising begins before you arrive at William & Mary. One of the Tribe Guide items to complete before orientation is the Academic Advising Questionnaire. The information you provide on this form will help us match you to your pre-major advisor; the faculty member who will serve as your main source of academic and campus resource information once you get to campus.
Before orientation, you will complete a mini-course, Tribe Studies, that will introduce you to the registration process and help you select and pre-register for your first classes at William & Mary. You will also be contacted by a peer advisor - a fellow W&M student who can answer most of your questions about academic life at William & Mary. A peer advisor will also assist you in your initial course registration.
Good to Know
- It's always good to be thinking ahead about how you want to shape your college career. You can trust the W&M summer advising program to prepare you for the actual nuts and bolts of putting your plans into action.
- Part of your planning should include the kinds of courses and credits you will transfer to W&M.
