Applied Science Minor

American Studies

  • Majors can select any faculty member in the department, but the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Prof. Alan Braddock, advises students about declaring a Major in American Studies and making progress toward completion of the necessary requirements.

Anthropology

  • Students can select any anthropology faculty member to be their advisor. Often, new majors find it helpful to select a professor with interests similar to their own, or a faculty member with whom they have previously taken a course.

Community Studies Minor

  • Majors are advised to write intended research topic essays in order to be given permission for enrollment in entry level courses. Over time, and when the topic is more fully developed, core teaching faculty either take them on as advisees or refer them to more closely aligned advisors across departments.

Film Studies

  • Students wishing to pursue a minor in Film Studies should meet with a member of the advisory committee.
  • Students wishing to design a major in Film Studies may also meet with a member of the advisory committee, who may serve as their advisor, but they will also need to meet with the Film Studies Program director in order to declare their major.

Literary and Cultural Studies

  •  When you declare, you should select an advisor whose interests are closer to your own from among the LCST faculty--but make sure to check with that person first! It's a good idea to be meeting with that person as soon as possible in the process, In special circumstances, and with the agreement of the LCST director and the faculty member, you can desginate an advisor who is not on the Advisory Committee.
Marine Science Minor

  • Students needing help in choosing a major advisor may contact the Undergraduate Studies Director.
  • Students interested can sign up for group advising appointments during the Psychology Declaration Period, which is the week before and the week after Spring Break. Students who miss the Declaration Period can visit the Psychology Office in ISC, Room 1137, for an advisor.

Public Policy
