Biography

Tamara Johnson is an Award Winning actress who has performed Off-Broadway as well on camera in film, television, and commercials. She has co-starred with Robert Reed (The Brady Bunch), Jan Clayton (Lassie), the cast of TV's One Tree Hill, Julianne Moore in the Film Shelter (2009), and Jane Seymour in Lake Effects (2010).  Stage appearances with Virginia Shakespeare Festival include Paulina in The Winter's Tale, Nurse in Romeo and Juliet and Mrs. Prentice in What the Butler Saw. She received the Individual Artist Award from the Maryland State Arts Council as playwright and performer of her one woman show as Laura Keene, the celebrated actress on stage at Lincoln's assassination. Fall 2009 she performed at Offstage Theatre in Jackson Hole, WY and appeared as Amanda Wingfield in Glass Menagerie at Rep Stage in Columbia, MD. 

For several years Ms. Johnson was a Casting Associate with Betsy Royall Casting, casting for the TV series West Wing and hundreds of national and regional commercials. Tamara's recent TV appearances include HBO's The Wire, America's Most Wanted, Psychic Witness, several episodes of A Haunting and co-starring in One Tree Hill.

Trained at the Dallas Theatre Center, Tamara has been a Performing Arts Instructor for more than 25 years appearing as a visiting artist instructor in numerous universities, private schools, and the Virginia Governor's School. Awards and citations include a nomination for Best Actress Critics Choice Award in Dallas and recipient of the Award for Excellence at the Kennedy Center.
