Phi Beta Kappa Hall

The Mainstage Theatre has a seating capacity of 763, with 486 seats on the main floor and 277 seats in the balcony.

Driving Directions

The Theatre is one half mile from the Merchant's Square area of Colonial Williamsburg. From Merchant's Square, travel South on Jamestown Road, the theatre will be on the right with a large semi-circular drive in front. Driving directions via Google Maps...

From the West, from Richmond, follow Interstate 64 East to exit 234 B, which is Route 199 East. Follow Route 199 for 8½ miles to Jamestown Road, Route 31, which is the second traffic light. Turn left and follow Jamestown Road for 1½ miles. The theatre will be on the left with a large semi-circular drive in front.

From the East, from Norfolk, Hampton, or Newport News, follow Interstate 64 West to exit 242 A which is Route 199 West. Follow Route 199 for approximately 3 miles. At the fourth traffic light, turn right onto Jamestown Road, Route 31. Follow Jamestown Road approximately 1½ miles, the theatre will be on the left with a large semi-circular drive in front.

Public Parking

Parking is permitted in all campus lots from 5 pm on Friday through 7:45 am on Monday.  The main parking areas for Phi Beta Kappa Hall are in the circle out front and in the large parking lot directly adjacent to the circle.  Theatre patrons are permitted to park in these areas during performances in Phi Beta Kappa Hall without a Parking Pass.

At all other times, campus lots require a Parking Pass which can be obtained at the Campus Parking office, located at 201 Ukrop Way; 757-221-4764. 

Access for the Disabled

The Mainstage Theatre is wheelchair accessible via the sidewalk and a ramp that runs across the right face of the building. Please use the sidewalk to the right as you approach the building.

The first-floor front lobby restrooms are fully accessible.

Wheelchair access for the Studio Theatre, the backstage area of the Mainstage Theatre, Green Room and Dressing Rooms, and the Costume and Scene Shop wheelchairs is through the Green Room/Dressing Room entrance on the east side (right side as you face the building), over a four-inch step and through a narrow exterior door.

To serve the hearing impaired, the Mainstage Theatre is equipped with Sennheiser infrared listening system that operates at 95 kHzan. Headsets are available free of charge at the ticket office. The system is compatible with Sennheiser headsets HDI-406, H-100, and RI-100. The headsets we use are the model HDI-406. Please inform the House Manager if you have problems using this system.
