I spent the summer working with Chesapeake Experience, a program designed to give a hands-on educational experience in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Week long summer camps take place in various locations around the Virginia peninsula (including, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Newport News, and Gloucester). Camps are designed to provide local children, ages 6-15, with an opportunity to kayak, fish, crab, and explore the ecology of the watershed through interactive activities. Director, Jill Bieri, has 20 years of experience working on the Bay and is dedicated to environmental education. In addition to summer camps Jill provides programs for teachers, weekend eco paddles, and custom trips.
