OVERVIEW

Interns will be assisting with the planning and implementation of two concurrent summer science camps serving 40 elementary children from high need schools. The summer camp is an aspect of the VISTA project, vista.gmu.edu. Interns will assist elementary teachers in gathering supplies, testing activities, and other aspects of planning and teaching the summer camps. Activities that may involve interns include planning and implementing mini-field trips, videotaping camp sessions, leading small group activities, providing information to parents, and many many more. In past years, the camp administration has built upon the talents and strengths of the interns, resulting in activities such as the writing and student performance of a rap on the Chesapeake Bay. For information on the summer camp, see article on the W&M Website: http://www.wm.edu/news/stories/2011/first-ever-vista-summer-science-camp-makes-big-splash.php
