Youth Leadership Foundation is looking for interns to teach science or math to inner-city DC students grades 3-10. Each intern will be working with either elementary school (3rd-6th grade) or middle/high school (7th-11th grade) students. Interns will have the opportunity to create their own lesson plans during our 6-week summer intensive programs.
Interns will be required to provide their own transportation to and from the location sites in Washington, DC. (Tenley Achievement Program - TAP - is located at St. Thomas More School in SE. Program for Academic & Leadership Skills - PALS - is located at St. Anthony School in NE.) Interns are required to attend a week-long staff orientation before the program begins on June 25, 2012. Interns should expect to have a lot of fun with these summer programs!
Summer interns will be working with one of two summer intensive programs of the Youth Leadership Foundation (YLF). Tenley Achievement Program (TAP) is the all-boys program and Program for Academic & Leadership Skills (PALS) is the all-girls program. YLF is looking for elementary science or math teachers, and middle/high school science or math teachers. Class sizes are approximately 15-18 students. Interns will have the freedom to create their own lesson plans and projects with the students.
While we are unable to lodge the interns, we may be able to find affordable housing with other summer teachers. Please email Michele Wittig, email@example.com for more details.
