Personal statement about teaching
I always thought of teaching as something mysterious, as something that was important to society and had great vacation benefits. I didn't truly know I wanted to be a teacher until I actually tried it. When I entered the SOE after my undergraduate years at W&M, I knew I loved kids and I wanted to help people, but I didn't know that teaching would quickly become the most rewarding thing I have ever done. The first time I took over a classroom, I knew that I had made the right choice by attending the SOE. As a middle school teacher, I love the challenges and rewards of teaching and I love being able to make a difference in kids' lives every single day. For me, becoming an educator wasn't simply a career choice, it was the missing and most important step to becoming the person I was meant to be.
