Undergraduate Program

The Department of Religious Studies offers a B.A. in Religion. Religious Studies courses provide in-depth study of religious traditions, spiritualities, past and lived experiences explored within a variety of cultural and social contexts. Our classes expose students to diverse worldviews and interdisciplinary methods as our curriculum seeks to situate and further academic learning in cross-cultural and comparative framework. Our departmental strengths include: courses on religious traditions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Asian Religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; histories of religions; religious ethics; and religion in America.

Religious Studies faculty regularly teach COLL 100 and COLL 150 courses for first-year students. Many of our courses also fulfill COLL 200, COLL 300, and COLL 350 requirements. All courses without prerequisites welcome students interested in the study of religion, including 300-level courses. See the Catalog for our current course offerings.
