Undergraduate Research

The required course for all Religious Studies majors is Theory and Method in the Study of Religion (RELG 391). Usually taken in the junior or senior year, this course explores theories of religion and dominant methods for studying religion. The course includes a significant independent research component. Students pursuing honors theses are encouraged to use RELG 391 to contribute to their theses, either as a junior exploring potential research topics or as a senior embarking on the research process.

Students who want to really dig into a topic may do an Independent Studies project with a professor of their choice, or complete an Honors project.

Some professors are involved in research that can use student assistance. Ask.

The College provides funding for student research.
